Women’s Health Advice: Discover Anti Aging Vitamins

Women age as their body cells die and when new healthy cell generation is hindered simultaneously. Premature aging can result from inadequate nutrition caused by years of poor dietary habits. Why? Because our bodies need certain amounts of vitamins to produce healthy cells and repair damaged cells. For many women, healthy cells can promote anti aging more than anything else

Free Radicals: Enemies to Your Anti Aging Efforts

When your diet lacks the vitamins needed for healthy cell rejuvenation, it will produce high amounts of free radicals, or highly reactive oxygen molecules. Free radicals will attack your healthy cells, thus, accelerating the aging process. Foods high in fat content, pesticides and ultraviolet radiation exposure can also contribute to free radical production and hinder your anti aging efforts.

Vitamins for Anti Aging

Vitamins have been a source of good women’s health for years, but new discoveries through the cutting edge science in genomics reveal that certain amounts of vitamins are needed to promote healthy cell rejuvenation and anti aging. Let’s look at some of the anti-aging vitamins below.

Antioxidants

Some of the vitamins found in many berries such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries and grapes are natural antioxidants that help rid your body of harmful toxins that can hinder your anti-aging efforts. Green tea is also a good source of natural antioxidants. Toxins are introduced to the body every day in the foods you eat and pollutants in the air. Though you cannot feel anything, toxins are well at work to destroy good, healthy cells and speed up your aging process!

Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3, or niacin, helps the body to convert calories from fat, protein and carbohydrates into energy. It aids in digestive functions as well as promotes healthy nerves and skin. This vitamin can be found in peanuts, yeast, eggs, meat, poultry and fish. It’s also one of the key ingredients for anti-aging supplements.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6, or pyridoxine, aids in brain function and the conversion of protein into energy. It can be found in pork, fish, poultry, eggs, soybeans, whole grains, bananas, nuts and seeds, and oats.

Vitamin Blends

There are also anti-aging products with vitamin blends that combine a number of cell-promoting vitamins into one ingredient. These vitamins are carefully measured to give you just the right amount for proper cell rejuvenation. Thanks to cutting edge science in genomics, companies are now able to include just the right balance of vitamins for each cycle of life.

Reduce Dairy Product Intake

Dairy products such as milk and cheese contain Casein, which is a common food allergen that depletes immune cells. Replace some of your dairy products with other calcium-rich foods such as soy, juice, rice, salmon, sardines, broccoli, and collard greens.

Other vitamins that promote anti aging and healthy cells include Vitamin E, Selenium, Vitamin K and Vitamin C.

As you can see, vitamins are essential for skin beauty, strong bones and joints, and healthy cell generation. With all the new anti aging products, it’s easier than ever to get all the vitamins you need.

Tough Skin Care for Health Buffs

Playing sports is a great way to keep a person physically fit and healthy. There are numerous indoor and outdoor activities

that can help improve a person’s strength, stamina, and endurance. Runners, cyclists, swimmers, triathletes, marathoners,

skiers, and other outdoor fanatics are all exposed to the sun, the wind, the cold and chlorinated water more than people who

are sedentary. People who engage in outdoor sports like baseball, softball, and basketball usually encounter a lot of sweat,

oils, dirt and environmental pollutants that can wreak havoc on any complexion. Even indoor activities can pose the same

threat to the health of the skin so taking some essential skin care steps can save a lot of trouble. People who play outdoor

sports should always use sunscreen or sun block. No athlete wants to deal with the signs of sun damage on their face, arms,

and hands as a result of the sport they play. By protecting the face and other parts of the body that are exposed to the sun,

an athlete can focus on the game instead of his or her skin. There are various types of sunscreen that cater to different

needs and skin types. There are even sun care products made just for those who are physically active. While many of these

products are listed as sweat-proof, reapplication is key to maintaining long-lasting protection.
Based on skin care research, athletes need to make skin care an important part of their game preparations. Skin care gets

tough as the sporty bunch would need to be powerful, long-lasting and, of course, natural. However, if one does not have a

decent skin care regimen to accompany a sports or leisurely activity, the skin can suffer while doing the things one can

enjoy the most. With the right products, the skin can stay hydrated, allowing the sport buff to stay at the top of the game.
A recent study showed that approximately 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed directly into our bloodstream. The skin,

which is the body’s largest organ, responds to natural ingredients the same way that the remainder of our body does. When

good things are put in, it reacts well. When it receives things that don’t fit well with it, the reactions can be subtle or

there could be an all-out attack on the immune system.
Athletes of all kinds, whether its the pros or the softball league in your local community, have more to worry about than

stretching and conditioning. The best way to maintain a truly healthy body is to also maintain truly healthy skin.

Tips For Healthy Skin

Taking care of your skin is one of the most important ways to maintain a healthy, youthful glow that is so important to beauty today. A healthy skin will appear to glow and radiate warmth, ensuring a look that all will be happy to see. There are several dos and donts when it comes to preserving the health of your skin, and some of them may surprise you in their contrast to what common knowledge dictates is beauty.

One of the worst myths when it comes to having beautiful skin is that a tan is a necessity. To most people, tanned skin is indeed appealing, and even cancer research has never been able to fully deter people from desiring that bronzed look in themselves and in others. Over the years, several rumors have started about safe tanning methods which are supposed to give all the advantages of a tan without the harmful effects. It is very important to know, however, that methods such as tanning lamps both commercially and at home still operate by using the same ultraviolet rays that come from the sun, and all the dangers of the natural rays are also inherent to those that are manufactured. Skin cancer, of course, is the most serious problem that arises out of exposure to UV rays. Other problems can also occur. Sun damage cause skin to wrinkle prematurely, and also may make the skin leathery and scaly. If you must have a tan, the safest way that will cause the least amount of damage to your skin is to use a tanning lotion (one that gives the appearance of a tan).

Because none of us can avoid the sun and its impact on our skin, it is also important to take ongoing care of skin by using different methods. Keeping skin moisturized means keeping it healthy, and this will also prevent premature aging. Watch out for beauty products that contain items like extract of cucumber. Applying cucumbers (especially to the eyes) is a well-known method of maintaining healthy skin, but it is in fact nothing about the cucumber that helps skin. Instead, it is the amount of water found in cucumbers that helps to hydrate and take care of the skins appearance. If you are paying for a lotion that advertises a cucumber extract, then you are paying too much.

Another way in which people damage their skin is by excessive washing. This happens frequently with teenagers who are going through the pain of acne. The fact is, washing too much may make acne worse, and can also be very detrimental to overall skin health in the long run.

Finally, a healthy diet will equal a healthy skin. Make sure your everyday meals include the proper amounts of vitamins known to contribute to healthy skin, such as Vitamin A, C, E, Zinc, Chromium, Riboflavin, Thiamine, Pantothenic Acid, Niacinamide, and Pyroxidine. You can get these vital nutrients through careful planning of your meals or by the inclusion of a multivitamin- make sure to read the label to ensure it contains all of these essential vitamins.

Tips and Strategies for Encouraging Healthy Eating Habits in Your

Tips and Strategies for Encouraging Healthy Eating Habits in Your Family

Most of us have a pretty good idea of what healthy eating is: lots of fruits and vegetables and not too much fat and sugar. But when it comes to kids, knowing what is healthy is only the start. And even if you shop healthy it does not mean that your kid will willingly eat it.

There is hope. Kids need some extra encouragement and guidance along with a few of these strategies your kid is sure to eat healthy.

Be a gatekeeper.

Its likely that the easiest way to get your kids to eat healthy is to remove the less-healthy options. Take control over what food and snack choices are in your home. If a kid is hungry they will eat it when there isnt an alternative. Have you ever heard of a kid starving to death because his parents would not feed him potato chips?

Keep healthy food in sight.

As for those less-than-good-for-you foods, keep them in high cabinets and out of your kids reach. Arrange your refrigerator and cabinets so that healthy foods are the first foods that you see. If you choose to have some unhealthy options in the house keep them out of sight and you and your kids will be much less likely to choose them as an option.

Make healthy food convenient.

Wholesome foods, particularly fruits and vegetables require little preparation which is great for your starving kid and you. Have a fruit basket at eye level on the counter at all times or have a container with carrots and celery sticks ready to go in the refrigerator. You might be surprised at how many more fruits and vegetables your kid will eat simply by having them visible and easy to grab.

Make learning about food fun.

Taking some of the mystery out of where foods come from can work wonders for some selective eaters. Prepare family meals together, have your kid mix the ingredients and serve the food to the rest of the family. Plant a vegetable garden as a family project and put your kid in charge of watering and picking the ripe vegetables. Kids that are involved are more likely to be a willing participant in the eating process.

Keep an eye on Portion sizes.

Parents often stress over how much their kids should be eating. Whether you are trying to get a selective eater to take a bite of anything green or limit the amount of dessert your sweet-toothed kid wants watching portions is necessary. Knowing the size of a healthy portion will give you some needed perspective. You can use the USDAs Guidelines for Healthy Eating to learn about what a healthy portion is.

Set a healthy example.

Keep in mind that eating meals together isnt just a great way to catch up on your familys day it is also the perfect time to role-model healthy eating habits. Kids learn by watching their parentsThats food for thought!

Taking Care of Acne Prone Skin

Acne is not confined to teenagers and puberty, it also prevalent in adults and in women mostly during pregnancy. Acne is often characterized by pimples and breakouts all over the skin in large numbers, frequently seen on the face and the back. It is caused due to the over activity of the sebaceous glands or the oil producing glands. When it combines with dead skin cells, hormones and bacteria, the oily substances are trapped inside the pores and causes swelling. The lumps often have a crown of a white head or a black head or even red lumps, which are very tender. Acne, if not treated on time, can even lead to scarring. Some acne go so deep inside the skin that they form into nodules and cysts, which leaves scars which may not disappear even after healing. Acne can be caused due to stress, fatigue, and cosmetics and even due to humidity, although nothing has been proved till date.

Dos and Donts on the acne prone skin:

Professional treatment is the best for acne, the earlier the treatment provided, the better. A good doctor will be in a position to treat acne-using medications by controlling the over-active sebaceous glands, hormonal imbalance, or even stress.

It is good not to squeeze or break the pimples and acne, as it will lead to spread the infection and can make the area swell and might even lead to permanent scarring.

Usage of oily cosmetics are also not recommended, as the acne prone skin already is oily enough, usage of such cosmetics will add up to it. Instead of using oily cosmetics, it is better to go for water based ones, which might be less harsh. It is always good to remove make up at night, if left on the whole night might cause irritation to the skin.

The acne prone skin should be pampered with gentle wash and pat dry. Vigorous scrubbing needs to be avoided as it only worsens the condition and may even block the pores.

Regular shampooing is recommended as it may reduce the pimple appearing on the forehead, it is good to avoid hair products like gels and pomades, as they are oily.

Cosmetics which are non comedogenic should be used. Acnes sometimes can make the skin hypersensitive, hence sunscreens can be used to avoid sunburns. It is good to avoid tanning, as it cannot make the skin clearer.

Over-the-counter products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can curb mild acne.

Take Care With Skin Care

Our skin is one of the parts of our bodies that we should have the most concern for. It is one of the things that is exposed not only to the people around us, but also to all of the harmful things found in our environment. Taking time to practice good skin care should be one of the things we do everyday.

Good skin care begins by knowing our own skin and by learning about ways to best take care of our skin. It will probably not take long for any of you to determine whether your skin is mostly dry, mostly oily, or a combination of the two. Skin care patterns will clearly look different based on what skin type you have. If you are unsure about your skin type, or even if you just want a second opinion, stop by any makeup counter at a local department store and ask for a skin diagnosis. Be careful, though, to not forget that these people are salesmen and women who will also want to get you to buy every skin care product in their line.

Don’t let yourself make any huge skin care decisions just yet! Because of how valuable your skin is, you should take the time to research and learn about the best skin care products for you. Remember that just because a certain brand of skin care products works on your best friend, it doesn’t mean the same products will be helpful for you. Certainly ask around and see what kinds of skin care treatments are working for other people, but ultimately settle on what works for you the best.

Good skin care is about much more than just using the right cleanser or moisturizer. Taking good care of your skin also requires that you protect it from one of the environment’s most dangerous enemies of healthy skin: the sun! While we all need a certain amount of sun to stay healthy and happy, most people don’t realize the amount of damage that the sun does to unprotected sun. Find a good makeup or moisturizer that contains an SPF of at least 15 and do not leave the house without it.

Another huge skin care tip that people might not realize is the benefit of drinking water everyday. Water is one of the best ways to purify our bodies and therefore to purify our skin. Grab a water bottle and drink it during the day. It is one of the very best things you can do for your skin.

Love yourself by taking care of your skin. It will be with you for a lifetime.

Take Care of Your Skin This Winter

Dry, itchy skin affects more than 80 percent of Americans and can be most prevalent during the cold winter months – when humidity and temperature drop – making skin particularly vulnerable to dryness and cracking.

“Frigid temperatures and low humidity can contribute to dry, winter skin,” says New York City dermatologist Dr. Diane Berson. “It is important to take extra special care of skin during the winter, especially for those with sensitive skin. People with sensitive skin should look for products without dyes or fragrances.”

If you have a problem with dry skin, Berson recommends that you consider the following:

* What personal care products do you use? Sensitivity to fragrances and dyes commonly found in soaps, lotions and even deodorants can be a frequent cause of skin irritation. Look for personal care products specially formulated for sensitive skin that are hypoallergenic and free of dyes and perfumes, such as all Free Clear laundry detergent, the No.1 dermatologist and allergist recommended detergent for people with sensitive skin.

* Make the switch. As the temperature dips, your skin craves more moisture. Remember to replace lightweight summer lotion with lotions that have a higher concentration of emollients (lipids), which help skin seal in and retain moisture.

* Get vapor relief. Cranking up the thermostat in winter creates more dry heat, which can leave skin parched and lead to itchiness. Use a vaporizer, which produces hot steam, or humidifier, which produces cool mist, to add moisture to the air. Be sure to thoroughly clean and disinfect humidifiers regularly to prevent harmful particles from building up. This is especially important for people with mold allergies.

* Keep it cool. Chilly winters may make a long hot shower or bath sound enticing, but hot water can actually wash away skin’s natural oils, leaving it extra dry and itchy. Instead, take warm showers and pat skin dry. To lock in moisture, apply body lotions containing ingredients like petrolatum and glycerin which work to keep skin hydrated. – NU

Skin Treatment Procedures – Young Look With Collagen Implant Without Pain

Skin ages with time. The aging is not only because of the passing years but also sun exposure. Sun exposure ages skin much faster. The UV rays in the sun damage the skin and the underlying collagen. Let us find out more about what is collagen and how it can be used to get the young look again.

Skin And Collagen-

Collagen is the main material found in the second layer of skin called the dermis. What we see on our body is called the epidermis. Dermis lies just below the epidermis. Collagen and elastin create a structure of mesh and that gives support to our skin. With aging, this collagen reduces and the skin begins sagging. You can see the hollow looking cheeks of old people. That is because of depletion of collagen. By injecting collagen doctors repair many wrinkles and the hollow look.

Skin Treatment With Collagen Injections

To remove the sagging look and the wrinkles, doctors inject or implant collagen with a find needle at the site. The collagen is most of the times of bovine source. Human collagen may also be used. Both types are accepted by a majority of the people. With a little injection you can get your youth again. The body reabsorbs the collagen over some months and you will need the injections again. But that is a small price to pay for the youth you get with collagen. Give new look to your skin with collagen implants. Consult your doctor for details.

Skin Treatment – Methods To Remove Scars

Scars are a problem for all the people who wish to look young and smart. A scarred face always troubles us and affects our psychology. Talk to people affected by acne scars all over their face and you will realize the impact of scars on the self-esteem and confidence.

Skin treatment for scars may follow many procedures. That will depend on the age of the person, the location of the scar and the nature of the scar. If the scar is superficial, it can be treated with microdermabrasion or medium chemical peel, while a deeper scar will need more intensive treatments such as laser resurfacing or deep chemical peel. It is interesting to note that all of us have different scar forming tendency. Some of us form deeper scars compared to others who form mild scars for similar injury.

If the scar mixes with wrinkles it is less of a problem. But if it shows prominently on the cheek, one has to get it treated. Many methods are available for resurfacing the skin. All methods produce different results. The costs will be different and so will be the postoperative time of recovery. You have to therefore talk to your doctor about your scars and the treatment. Chemical peeling, dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, surgical excision, are few of the techniques that are used to treat scars. You need not suffer scars. Consult your doctor and get treated.

Skin Treatment – Medium Chemical Peels

In medium depth peels the chemical normally used is Trichloroacetic acid. TCA is used in many concentrations to get different results. This peel is stronger than the superficial peel that is normally done with AHA and less strong than deep peel normally done with phenol.

TCA peel is effective in treatment of fine surface wrinkles, superficial skin spots and blemishes, uneven pigmentation and other superficial skin problems. TCA peel may require an initial treatment with AHA or Retinoid Creams to make the skin thin and make TCA pill more effective. The treatment takes ten to fifteen minutes and this peel can be used on neck or other body parts also.

No anesthesia is needed for TCA peel as the chemical itself anesthetizes the skin. Some doctors give mild sedation to make the patient more comfortable during the treatment. The doctor cleans the skin thoroughly and then applies the solution on the skin. The initial stinging goes away after some time. After the treatment, you may feel swelling which may go after few days. The TCA peel may have to be repeated to get desired results.

Your doctor may cover your face with a tape that may be removed after a day or two. This depends upon the strength of the peel. Please avoid sun exposure for as long as possible after the peel. It is important to discuss the procedure, the effect and any other question you may have with your doctor before you get medium depth peel done. Sometimes TCA peel may produce some color changes in the skin. You may also have to avoid your normal activities for about a week or more.
